Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, has said that efforts to contain the wildfire on Mount Kilimanjaro have been more than 90% successful, with additional measures underway to ensure the fire is fully extinguished and further damage is prevented.

During her visit to inspect the progress of the firefighting operation, Dr. Kijaji commended conservation forces, the Fire and Rescue Force, and local residents for their strong cooperation and dedication in controlling the blaze.

She also urged tour guides and tourists to take precautions and actively participate in environmental conservation across all protected areas in the country. Residents living near conservation areas were advised to avoid activities that could cause or fuel fires within the parks.

Dr. Kijaji noted that tourism activities on Mount Kilimanjaro are continuing as normal, while the government remains committed to ensuring the safety of tourists and tour guides at all times.
