The Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has ordered that men who urinate by the roadside in public, including in the presence of children, be arrested immediately and jailed for a period of no less than five years.

However, the statement has been criticised by legal experts, who argue that the punishment is harsh and disproportionate to the offence, considering the existing principles of criminal law.
