President Samia Suluhu Hassan has revoked the appointed directors from four regions over the misuse of COVID-19 funds.
The President announced the news today during a detour in Mwanza on her way to Mara for the 45th anniversary of the ruling party CCM and a four days official tour in the region from February 6th.
She reminded the mass that she had warned the leaders not to misuse the allocated fund as she would not just sit quietly about the issue.
“There is a piece of information that the directors from Buchosa, Iringa, Mbeya, Singida Urban have squandered the money in Hon. Minister [Innocent Bashungwa], I have revoked the directors with immediate effect, and later, I will see what your report says,” said President Samia adding that they should continue investigating a director from Geita.

“My team is there investigating the issue. If he is found guilty of the same mistake, he will be dismissed,” she said.
During the detour, President Samia also ordered a thorough investigation into the police force following allegations of police involvement in recent killings in Mtwara.
“I heard that the police have killed and then commissioned their investigation into the crime. I now direct the Prime Minister [Kassim Majaliwa] to conduct a separate investigation, and both reports should be brought forth for comparison,” said the President, who’s also the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
