President Samia’s 4-day visit to the western region of Tanzania Kigoma has witnessed the launching of several crucial development projects such as hospitals, roads, electricity transmission projects and ports. 

One crucial and strategic project for which President Samia Suluhu laid the foundation is Kibirisi port’s expansion. The expansion involves improvements to the three ports of Kibirisi, Ujiji and the main Port of Kigoma at the cost of 32 billion shillings.

Upon laying the foundation stone, President Samia revealed her zeal to transform Kigoma into a regional logistics and business centre. The Kibirizi port construction reached 69.5%, which will serve Kigoma residents and neighbouring countries after completion. 

During the launch, President Samia instructed the Ministry of Construction to start plans to construct a modern road that will enter the port. Also, in the same tone, the President directed the regional commissioners to remove all scatted small businesses around the new port and replace it with a modern market. 

In addition, President Samia said that the Government is determined to make a significant economic revolution in the Kigoma Region through development projects so that the region becomes the centre of business.
