In a sweeping triumph, Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park has clinched the prestigious title of the Best African Safari Park and Destination for the fourth consecutive year, according to a comprehensive analysis by SafariBookings. The accolade was awarded after evaluating 2,494 park reviews from both safari enthusiasts worldwide and an international team of safari experts.
The study, encompassing 200 parks across 15 African countries, excluded destinations primarily known for scenery or gorilla/chimp tracking, focusing solely on those recognized for classic wildlife-viewing safaris. Parks with fewer than 10 reviews were also excluded from the Top 50.
Serengeti National Park emerged as the undisputed winner with an impressive overall rating of 4.87 out of 5, outshining competitors across East and Southern Africa, as well as Ethiopia and Madagascar. This victory marks Serengeti’s fourth time at the pinnacle, following its triumphs in 2015, 2018, and 2019.
The park’s allure lies in its spectacular wildlife, particularly the abundance of predators and the renowned wildebeest migration. Travelers and experts alike bestowed high praise, solidifying Serengeti’s reputation as a world-renowned wildlife haven.
South Africa’s Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve secured the second position with an overall rating of 4.71 out of 5, while South Luangwa National Park in Zambia climbed to third place, a notable ascent from its seventh position in the previous rankings.
Tanzania dominated the Top 10 with three entries: Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Ruaha National Park. Botswana followed closely with two and a half entries, including Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve, and Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (shared with South Africa). Although Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve secured a single entry in the Top 10, the country boasted the highest number of parks and reserves in the Top 50, with an impressive count of 12.
The results reaffirm Serengeti’s unrivaled status as the epitome of an exceptional safari experience, drawing enthusiasts from around the globe to witness its extraordinary wildlife and natural beauty.
