The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitution, Geophrey Pinda, stunned members of parliament after revealing that 75% of women who are being detained in Njombe Prison murdered their husbands.
This means the greater case in the region was orchestrated by women who kill their husbands over matrimonial matters.
Mr Pinda was responding to a question posed by special seats MP, Maryam Mwinyi (CCM), who had wanted to know when the government would table amendments in the law providing punishment to husbands who kill their wives and children over family matters.
However, the answers came the other way around. Instead, it was realised that it was women who were leading in killing their spouses contrary to the expectations of the special sets of members of parliament.
“Recently I made a tour around Njombe region and among other areas I visited the Njombe Prison and it came to my attention that 75% of women in that prison were serving sentences for murdering their husbands,” he said.
