The government has a lot to learn from retired leaders

Tanzania’s Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango said the government will not abandon the wisdom and advice of retired leaders when it comes to issues of national development.

He made the statement when he visited former prime minister Cleopa Msuya on October 25, 2021 at his home in Upanga, Dar es Salaam. Mzee Msuya served under the leadership of Tanzania’s first President, Mwl. Julius Kambarage Nyerere and former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi.

Dr. Mpango praised the retired minister for his contribution in building Tanzania during his active service in the government.

During the visit, Mzee Msuya applauded President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s leadership and efforts to finish projects started in the fifth-phase government as they will bring quick development to the country and advised the government to not fall shy of introducing productive projects.

He further suggested that the government should consider having a telephone communication where citizens can directly contact the President or Vice President to present their challenges.

Today October 26, President Samia has also visited former prime minister, Edward Lowassa at his home in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam.
