The government has allocated Tsh 150 billion to cover fertilizer subsidies that will be distributed to farmers in the country to provide relief to the farmers in fertilizers price that has been fluctuating in the world market.
President Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to launch a fertilizer subsidy program at the peak of the Nanenane exhibition, which will be held in the Mbeya region this year, 2022.
Executive Director of Tanzania Fertilizer Control Authority (TFRA), Dr Stephen Ngailo, said the grant farmers used increased the table in agriculture.
The subsidy also helps farmers improve food security and access raw materials to feed local industries.
Fertilizers that will be given with subsidies are for planting and growing, other types of planting and growing will be included in the subsidy according to market needs.
