TMA warns of possible cyclone in the Indian Ocean

The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) has reported a low-pressure system over the Indian Ocean near the Seychelles Islands, approximately 1,600 kilometres off the coast of Tanzania, which is expected to intensify into a cyclone within the next four days.

According to TMA, the system is moving towards the Tanzanian coast and could strengthen weather systems that bring rainfall to coastal areas and neighbouring regions, particularly from October 24, 2026.

In response, TMA has urged sea users and the public to continue monitoring weather forecasts issued by the authority and follow advice from experts in relevant sectors.

TMA said it is continuing to monitor the system’s development and its potential impact on the country’s weather patterns, pledging to provide further updates as necessary.
