A group of 152 tourists from Egypt has arrived in Zanzibar through a newly launched direct flight route connecting Cairo and Zanzibar, operated by EgyptAir.
The inaugural flight is expected to boost tourist arrivals to Zanzibar and create more opportunities for the tourism sector.
Zanzibar’s Minister for Works and Transport, Dr. Khalid Salum Mohamed, and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Aboud Suleiman Jumbe, said the initiative will support Zanzibar’s goal of attracting 1.5 million tourists by 2030.
Some of the Egyptian tourists said the direct flight has made travel easier, allowing them to enjoy a more comfortable journey and arrive in Zanzibar without the fatigue associated with long trips involving connecting flights.
