Fuel prices rise by over Sh200 per litre in Tanzania

Fuel prices in Tanzania have increased by more than Sh200 per litre, with the new rates taking effect from October 7.

In Dar es Salaam, petrol now sells at Sh4,057 per litre, up from Sh3,796 in September, while diesel has risen to Sh4,086 from Sh3,877. Kerosene recorded the highest increase, climbing to Sh4,067 per litre from Sh3,713.

The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) said the increase was driven by ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which has affected global oil production, supply and transportation.

The government said it is closely monitoring developments in the international oil market and taking measures to ensure stable fuel supplies across the country.
