The government has announced an amnesty for the surrender of illegal firearms from September 1 to October 31, 2026.
People in possession of illegal firearms have been urged to surrender them at police stations, local government offices, or ward executive offices, without facing legal action.
Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, said anyone found in possession of an illegal firearm after the amnesty period will face legal action.
